What is mainland in UAE?

The mainland is nothing but the location outside of a Free zone area in the UAE. Companies in the mainland need a local sponsorship to set up the company in some situations where a free zone company doesn’t. The mainland company license is issued by the DED – Department of economic development or any other departments related.

Are Mainland companies in the UAE should be audited? Is it mandatory in the UAE?

In the UAE, the companies registered under Mainland are needed to be audited. But the companies in the free zone depend on authorities or departments related to the free zones.

Should all the companies in the UAE get audited?

As per the provision of Law or the Law effect from 1st July 2017, every company which comes under law or is registered under the law should get their accounts audited by a registered auditor in the UAE.

As we mentioned above the companies registered under Freezone in the UAE are compelled to get the accounts audited. The Freezone companies include FZCO – Freezone Company and FZE – Freezone establishment.

Now the VAT – Value added Tax is also implemented in the country so the companies will feel it more important to maintain and audit their accounting system. This will give companies more data about financial positions and other weak parts of the department. So this may help the management to take the right decision at right time.
